Dear Donor,
Thank you for choosing Safe Haven Family Shelter to donate your charitable items. We accept donations Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. We will no longer accept used toys, puzzles, games, stuffed animals, mattresses, books or bedding. Currently, we are “ONLY” accepting the following items:
What we are currently accepting-
- Gently used spring and summer clothing and shoes (NO USED SWIMSUITS)
- Hygiene Products (family sizes) - mouthwash, deodorant, bar soap, body wash (men’s and women’s), African American hair products, combs, brushes, shaving cream (men’s and women’s), floss, Q-tips, body lotion, hand sanitizer
- Baby Products- unopened diapers, baby powders, baby lotion, baby shampoo, baby body wash
- Household Products- unused laundry detergent (liquid), fabric softener, bleach, cleaning products and supplies, (i.e. Windex, Comet, Pine sol, mops, brooms) Lysol and other disinfecting products, latex gloves, large 55 gallon trash bags
- Paper Products- plates, napkins, toilet paper, plastic silverware, paper towels
- Over the Counter Medications- any unopened and sealed medications for adults and children, i.e. Advil, Tylenol, Midol, Skin Creams (i.e. Hydrocortisone cream, Chamomile lotion), Benadryl, cough drops, throat spray, cold and cough medication, etc. and rubbing alcohol
- Entertainment- PG and PG-13 DVD’s, teenage entertainment items (music, movies, video games)
- Furniture- gently used sofas (no sofa beds), dressers, tables, night stands, chairs, etc. Dining room furniture
What we are currently not accepting/keeping-
- Any winter clothing, coats, shoes, hats, gloves, etc.
- Feminine Products
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Baby bottles, baby food, or nursing items
- Books
For Health, Safety and Hygiene Reasons we CANNOT accept-
- Food
- Unpackaged undergarments
- Used stuffed animals or unpackaged toys; used car seats, bouncers, strollers, play pens, etc.
- Mattresses used bedding (sheets, pillows, etc.)
- Unpackaged games, opened puzzles
- Damaged/stained clothing
- Any computers or electronics older than 3 years (phones, radios, DVD players, CD players, etc.)
- *Any major appliances may be donated by appointment only and accepted based upon need.
You may donate the items to our 3rd Avenue South location at 1234 3rd Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37210.

Pick up for large items, such as furniture, electronics or major appliances, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. by appointment and need only. Please contact our Operations Manager to schedule an appointment. Again, thank you for choosing Safe Haven Family Shelter.
